Norfolk, VA — November 16, 2025 — What began as a goal of 1,500 meals turned into something twice as powerful. Somnium CrossFit’s first annual Sharing Food + Fitness This Fall event rallied members, families, and local partners to donate a total of 3,093 meals — more than double the original goal — along with diapers, wipes, and essential toiletries for families in need throughout Hampton Roads.
Hosted at Somnium CrossFit on Saturday, November 15, the event combined a community canned food drive with free, all-levels fitness classes designed to inspire movement, connection, and giving. Participants contributed through drive-through drop-offs, in-gym donations, and online pledges, filling the gym floor with food items and critical household necessities.
“Our goal was 1,500 meals,” said Austin Mitchell, owner of Somnium CrossFit. “But the Somnium community didn’t just show up — they blew it away. We reached 3,093 meals, plus diapers, wipes, and toiletries. This was a true team effort, and we’re unbelievably proud of everyone who stepped up.”
The donations support the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia & the Eastern Shore, helping local families as they enter the holiday season — a time when community assistance is needed most.
In addition to contributions from members, the event featured:
“Thank you,” Mitchell added. “Together, we did it. Not only did we hit our goal — we doubled it. I’m proud to be part of such a generous, powerful, and community-driven group of people.”
